crochet!

i decided to teach myself to crochet. i am VERY impatient when self-teaching, so thank the lord for youtube! the tutorials on there are perfect, plus you can fast forward, rewind, and pause to make a cuppa.

so far, i have come up with a hat for myself (very proud) and some hats and a blanket for the charity Precious Awakenings  http://www.preciousawakening.org/, who need donations of hats, booties, blankets, angel wraps, for premature and still-born babies. reading the website is heartbreaking, so is knowing that what you are making is going to be used for a funeral or the last moments with the parents. but i'm glad i can help. and it has really helped my crochet, too.

i have managed to combine two of my favorite things.....cats and hats. brilliant!    >^.^<

it is made from lovely soft faux fur, with tartan lining and tartan in the ears. its incredibly warm and keeping me nice and cosy in this english winter. tho i have been told i may be a bit too old to wear this in public (whatev).

i might try and play around with this design and make it a bit longer, maybe different kinds of ears (any suggestions welcomed..)

....fascinating....

i've been playing around with some fascinator designs....very simple but i'm quite excited about it! i can see this being my next obsession!

typically they are all black and red, but that was subconsious and the next i'll try experiment with....gasp.....other colours. anyway. these are:

* a black teardrop with lacy bow and red ribbon

* red/black lace heart with black ruffles (kind of reminds me of garters and bustle....waaaaoow!)

* my favourite, red sequinned heart <3

the sequins took ages, but i love the result. they all also included parts made with my new gluegun.....my fingers are paying for the burns from their non-coordination.....

     

keeping ears warm and thoughts together

these little babies are the first thing i'm totally proud of - different, colourful, and a little bit cool. they're all made from different types of material, with luxury faux fur lining. PLUS they're reversible. so, if you want, you can run around town looking a little bit courcheval..
the hairclips are made from felt and were really fun to put together! a little bit inspired by amy winehouse, minus the drug addiction and slightly gross husband (don't worry, it's not catching)
